TORREIRA TO THE RESCUE | Arsenal 1 - 0 Huddersfield Town | Goals and highlights

In a game of precious few chances, we found it tough to break down the visitors and when we did have the ball in the net in the first half, Alex Lacazette was flagged for offside.

But after a spell of late pressure, our Uruguayan midfielder slammed the ball in from close range after good work by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to seal the three points.

With the pre-match festivities centred around our charity matchday, there were a host of activities taking place around the stadium to raise money for The Arsenal Foundation.

But once the game got underway, it was clear that the visitors were determined not to be as charitable as they made life difficult for us, snapping into tackles and closing the space well.

Indeed, it took until just before the half-hour mark for us to fashion our first chance of note when a sweeping move instigated by Matteo Guendouzi resulted in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stabbed the ball wide from close range.

Less than a minute later we had created another big opportunity as the lively Guendouzi found Alex Lacazette unmarked in the area, but the striker slipped while taking his shot and scooped his shot over the bar.

A flurry of yellow cards soon raised the temperature inside the stadium – two of which, for Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis, will see them suspended for next weekend’s trip to Southampton.

Just before the interval there was further controversy when Lacazette had a goal disallowed after preying on a defensive error, while Alex Pritchard went close for Huddersfield.

Unai Emery had seen enough and opted for two changes at half-time, bringing on Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Lacazette and Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Nacho Monreal soon came on for his first appearance since October 7 as we went in search of a much-needed breakthrough against stubborn opponents, but clear-cut chances were hard to come by.

But with seven minutes remaining we had the breakthrough as Aubameyang took the ball down at the far post, chipped it back across goal and Torreira acrobatically slammed the ball in from close range to secure a precious three points.

The Uruguay international was signed from Sampdoria in July 2018 after representing his country at the World Cup in Russia, where he featured in all five matches as they progressed to the quarter-finals.

Since joining the club, Torreira has displayed his combative nature, as well as his eye for a goal, notably in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United 2 - 2 Arsenal | Goals and highlights

The four goals summed up the match, which although was lacking in in quality, was not short on drama.

But there will be a huge sense of frustration that we twice threw away leads, conceding within moments of taking the lead on each occasion.

After a fairly uneventful opening 25 minutes, we broke the deadlock when David De Gea failed to hold a Shkodran Mustafi header from a corner. The keeper could only palm the ball up and over the line – the goal was awarded with the aid of the goal-line technology, with Ander Herrera failing to make his clearance in time.

Our lead lasted barely five minutes though. Bernd Leno did superbly to keep out a free-kick from Marcos Rojo but Herrera kept the loose ball alive, cut it back to the centre and Anthony Martial tucked home the equaliser.

To say the rest of the half was scrappy would be an understatement. First Rob Holding was forced off with a knee injury, Rojo was then fortunate not to see red for a late lunge on Matteo Guendouzi. He was only booked by Andre Marriner - one of five yellow cards in a crazy five-minute spell to end the half.

The second half continued in a fragmented fashion, until substitute Alexandre Lacazette gave us the lead, and it was a goal befitting the haphazard nature of the game. Rojo gave the ball away in midfield, we sprang forward, released Lacazette who was tackled by Rojo when through on goal, but the ball ricocheted into the net.

Once again our joy was shortlived. From the kick off United launched the ball forward, Read Kolasinac failed to get enough on the backpass and Jesse Lingard pounced to level.

There were 74 seconds between the goals, Unai Emery was rightfully livid on the touchline.

We kept coming though. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was denied from close range, then saw a curling effort well saved by De Gea, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan also shot just wide at the near post.

Mkhitaryan had the ball in the net late on, but was ruled offside, as we extended our unbeaten run to 20 games.

Manchester United 2-2 Arsenal | Arsenal Nation Live: Analysis

Arsenal 4 - 2 Tottenham | Goals, highlights, fans & celebrations

It was no less than we deserved, making most of the running, creating the better chances, and looking dangerous for the majority of this pulsating encounter, save for a damaging five-minute period in the first half.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave us the lead from the penalty spot after 10 minutes, but the game turned against us with two controversial Spurs goals on the half-hour mark.

Once again we showed tremendous character to bounce back in the second half, levelling with another superb finish from Aubameyang. From then on we took control again. Half-time substitutes Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette combined for the third goal and three minutes later Lucas Torreira scored his first for the club to seal a memorable victory.

Unai Emery selected an unchanged XI from our last Premier League game for his first ever north London derby, and we penned back Tottenham from the whistle, starting with an intensity that has often been lacking in the first half of games this season.

Aubameyang headed over from a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross in the opening 10 minutes before he stroked home his penalty, given for handball against Jan Vertonghen.

We were good value for the lead, and Alex Iwobi could well have doubled our advantage when he got on the end of Sead Kolasinac's cutback. His fierce shot was goalbound, but Hugo Lloris got down well to save.

Tottenham's best chances in the first half hour fell to Heung-min Son, who was kept out twice at the near post by Bernd Leno.

We were seemingly in charge of the game until two goals in four minutes turned the game around. First Eric Dier glanced home a free-kick at the near post, sparking a scuffle with the subs when he celebrated in front of the Arsenal fans. Dier was booked by referee Mike Dean.

Once the game eventually restarted, Son raced through on goal, and referee Dean adjudged he was brought down by Rob Holding, even though contact looked minimal. Harry Kane tucked home the spot-kick.

The turnaround came out of nowhere, and completely disrupted our rhythm. The game had an extra edge now, triggered by the scenes following Dier's celebration and Son's elaborate fall for the penalty.

We slowly began to rebuild though, and Shkodran Mustafi hit the bar with a looping header just before the interval.

Emery introduced Lacazette and Ramsey at half-time, but for a while we struggled to reproduce the intensity of the first half hour.

That was until Aubameyang's blistering shot brought us level. just before the hour. Ramsey managed to divert the ball into his path on the edge of the box, the striker unleashed an unstoppable drive past Lloris for his 12th goal of the season.

It breathed new life into our attack. Mustafi had a shot charged down from close range and Torreira's follow up flew just over. Sokratis then headed over but Spurs were nearly gifted a goal from Bellerin's loose pass across the box. Leno leapt away to his right to keep out the shot.

It proved to be nothing more than a blip, as we secured the points with two goals in quick succession.

First Aaron Ramsey's quick-thinking set up Lacazette with a long pass. The striker's low shot from 20 yards looked to lack pace, but the placement was perfect, and it found its way into the bottom corner.

The Emirates sound levels reached new levels just moments later when Torriera streaked away, finishing well at the near post to make it 4-2.

Tottenham's Vertonghen was sent off late on for a lunge on Lacazette, to compound the visitors' misery, but today was all about Arsenal - making it 19 games without defeat in stunning fashion.
