On Feb. 16, Norway completed a successful test of the F-35 drag chute system at Ørland Air Force Base. The drag chute — unique to the Norwegian aircraft — is designed and form fitted to maintain stealth characteristics. The system is housed under a small fairing on the upper rear fuselage between the vertical tails, can be used to rapidly decelerate Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) F-35s after landing on the country's icy runways when there are challenging wind conditions. Au total, la France recevra quatre aéronefs Super Hercules — deux avions de transport d'armements tactiques C-130J-30 et deux ravitailleurs aériens KC-130J, dont les livraisons se feront en 2019 — dans le cadre d'un accord de ventes militaires étrangères avec le gouvernement des États-Unis. The USS Little Rock (LCS 9) was commissioned into service with the U.S. Navy on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park in Buffalo, N.Y.
