Versace Women's Fall-Winter 2019 Fashion Show



Key runway looks pay tribute to Versace’s storied relationship with fashion photography, featuring portraits of Donatella Versace by Richard Avedon. These images are reprised in the Fall-Winter Collection thanks to the support of the Richard Avedon Foundation. The American photographer lensed more than 30 campaigns for Versace over the course of 20 years, beginning with the Spring-Summer 1980 Collection. For the launch of the fragrance Blonde, Avedon created portraits of Donatella Versace in his studio in New York on February 3rd, 1995.

The Blonde campaign, and in particular, the associated fragrance, lent further inspiration to the collection where new prints and embroideries showcase the house’s most distinctive perfume bottles. The print innovation continues in Versace’s colorful trademark style, mixing bold hues with house codes and references to art history. Monuments come to life in vivid tones on the Vittoria print through a bright representation of a statue from London’s National Gallery. An explosion of color celebrates the essence of Versace. Barocco-style V’s feature on silks, lurex jacquards and on the house’s new handbag line, Virtus. Taking its name from the Roman deity, Virtus symbolizes strength, courage, and character. A bold symbol of the brand’s aesthetic heritage, the central Barocco V characterizes the bag.

The conflicting natures of luxury and grunge are revealed in the styling and details of the collection. Quintessential Versace hardware elements like the Greek Key and newly embellished Safety Pins are at the core of this juxtaposition. Cashmere knits are destroyed while raw-cut edges on colorful tweeds are overlaid with top-stitched silk bondage straps. Stockings are paired with slip dresses, faux furs are worn with the gold chains, and leather boots are dramatized with hardware buckles.

Versace - 2 Chain Reaction



A sneaker that embodies the Versace DNA through the perspective of the Atlanta hip hop star.

The collaboration will be presented in his hometown during the weekend of February 1st – in a celebration of the artist’s heritage.
The most elevated Chain Reaction silhouette to date, the new ‘2 Chain Reaction’ juxtaposes Versace’s heritage with 2Chainz’ ethos.

The sneakers boast some of the familiar elements of the Chain Reaction – the unmissable chain-link sole, Greca details and braille lettering – while introducing new features such as an embossed croc neoprene collar with dual zip closure. The zippers are connected by a nylon strap for easy one handed open and close function.

The collaboration launched in the Versace pop-up boutique in Atlanta’s Wish Gallery from February 1st to February 3rd and on Versace.com.

The sneaker will be dropping in the Versace Phipps Plaza boutique February 4th and become globally available on February 8th.

The limited-edition sneakers come in a branded box and bag featuring the ‘2 Chain Reaction’ logo and are accompanied by a ready-to-wear capsule collection.

The capsule of men’s athleisure wear is also designed in collaboration with 2Chainz and will be available exclusively in the USA.

This collection aims to create a conversation about what menswear is today by empowering people to explore and express the various aspects of their character through style choices.
Every man is free to tell his own personal story in a society where individuality matters as much as being recognized as part of a group.

Only a confident man is able to see beyond the status quo and challenge it. This newly found attitude gives him the freedom and security to ignore conventional norms around beauty, and even more so, around masculinity.

Sharp tailored suits with safety-pin details walk next to see-through plastic pants or bondage-printed silk shirts. Embroidered lace details are placed on knitwear and worn with the most classic Prince-of-Wales pants and the Chain Reaction sneakers.

Embroidered boxer-style shorts are worn with button-up dress shirts.
A Limited Edition collaboration with Ford is inspired by the excitement of buying your first car. Excitement and aspiration of owning something as an extension of your personality, something very connected to the idea of being a man.

The layered looks and a seemingly random clash of elements, colors, jewelry, accessories, prints and shapes give men the possibility and the courage to test the extent of masculinity and to tell their own story.

Versace arrives in New York for the first time, taking the city by storm with its instantly recognizable style and unmistakable personality. Bags packed and passports in hand, the Versace women and men are welcomed to New York by Liberty’s torch. Welcoming Italia to New York through a collection that embodies freedom and empowerment.

Stars, stripes and Barocco – an explosion of prints celebrates Versace’s Italian roots on the New York runway. Designs intrinsic to the house are mixed in the boldest combinations. In the ‘Les Coupe Des Savage’ print zebra stripes and stars are intertwined with the Greca and gold-tone Barocco elements.

Evoking a jet-set atmosphere, the ‘Voyage Barocco’ print mixes and matches a melting pot of color palettes held together by Versace’s most quintessential motifs – the Greek Key and Barocco.

Iconic pin down – the Medusa Safety Pin makes its return in a new and contemporary way. THAT dress is back: a garment that broke all barriers, a daring gown that made fashion history. The Safety Pin dress that introduced the rock n’ roll attitude to red carpet attire. Hardware is made with the famous Medusa and new pin-clip fusion gold accents that conceal and reveal, ruching fabric together to create contemporary silhouettes. A look that defines Versace.

Heart on their sleeve – The ‘Love Versace’ heart print is inspired by Jim Dine’s designs for Gianni Versace’s New York townhouse. The colourful hearts are printed on silk chiffon that forms one of Versace’s most legendary silhouettes – long sleeves and naval low-cut front – made famous by Jennifer Lopez and prompting the creation of Google Image Search. The clicks to see this dress propelling the development of technology epitomises the importance of Versace’s cultural force.

Versace and Swarovski Tiara for the Vienna Opera Ball 2019



Wagner’s epic music drama is modelled after ancient Greek dramas, making Versace the natural choice to reimagine the story in a form of a timeless, elegant and delicate tiara. Recreating the scenes of the opera, and specifically the tale of the three water nymphs, the tiara represents the sought-after, precious and priceless Rhinegold.

Drawing inspiration from Wagner’s masterpiece and the imagery of the fable, the design of the tiara reinterprets the scene in which the three Rhinemaidens safeguard the underwater gold. Featuring Versace’s unmistakable design along with the highest quality Swarovski crystals, the tiara is iridescent in tones of blue, gold and white.

The blue, torquoise and silver crystals in the shapes of waves represent the river Rhine, on whose banks the story is set. The elongated gold-tone crystals with silver-tone accents represent the rays of light which are reflected from the water’s surface. The central, prominent, oval crystal in a warm gold hue represents the gold lying on the river bed – the treasure that the nymphs safeguard.

A result of a partnership based on excellence and craftsmanship, ‘The Ring of the Nibelung’ tiara will grace the heads of debutantes at the Vienna Opera Ball on February 28th 2019.

VERSACE’S SUSTAINABLE STYLE IN MIAMI



The mixology between light and shadow, substance and emptiness, flow and focus, infuse an unexpected energy in the new Versace Bal Harbour boutique.

The complexity and diversity of the Versace creations are captured by the various internal elements: the visually striking floor and ceiling. In the floating-effect brass ceiling, radiating beams of rays are held delicately by a forest of bronze strings. The floor mosaic is a mix of modernity and tradition: a cutting-edge pattern assembled by hand by Italian artisans. The minimalism of the composition contrasts with the rhythm of the space. A constant dialogue is created between the viewer and the creations, original encounters that stimulate the imagination and the curiosity of the customers.

The new concept was designed by renowned architect Gwenael Nicolas with the highest sustainability standards in mind – from the choice of materials to the flexibility and management of the space – reaching the latest LEED Gold certification level for Retail Interior Design and Construction, a globally recognized certification program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

A holistic approach has been applied to the selection of materials with the highest environmental and transparency standards for the entire life of all parts of the store. Materials in both the structure and its interiors have undertaken an environmental product declaration: an extra step in transparency guaranteeing responsible sourcing and end-of-life processes. The construction included recycled, recyclable, and responsible materials – including glass in the mosaic, FSC-certified wood in the structure, and recomposed marble in certain decorative elements to minimize extraction of raw materials from the earth – a sustainable commitment in every detail.

Much of the impact of a store is in its daily operations, which at Bal Harbour have been studied with attention to people and environment. Dimmable LED lights with central control have been installed to ensure efficient use of energy over the course of the day. Climate control equipment was chosen for energy efficiency. Internal air quality is studied to provide a positive impact for wellbeing on people working and shopping in the space. With an eye to managing climate impact, Versace has planned a 5-year offset program to compensate the energy and water use in the store. Thanks to renewable energy certificates, the store will offset all electricity use through renewable energy production, and water usage through the restoration of natural watersheds.

Finally, the entire concept has been designed with flexibility and the future in mind. For example, the floor and ceiling design allows for adjustable lighting without needing to replace or discard elements, extending the usable life of the space for years to come.

The renovated boutique is a pure expression of not only the unmistakable DNA of Versace, but also of its commitment to the environment and vision for the future.
